About the Job

Lorillard Tobacco Company, a leading manufacturer of smoked tobacco products, is currently seeking a Manager, Market Research in our Direct Marketing and Marketing Research department, located at our corporate headquarters in Greensboro, NC.

The Manager, Market Research is primarily responsible for providing actionable market research data for insight and direction in support of marketing issues and/or brand programs; facilitates writing top line and final reports, including executive presentations, supervises outside market research suppliers to insure maximum strategic input and state-of-the-art technical support is provided.

Specific accountabilities of this position include:

  1. Providing guidance and input into resolving critical marketing issues by developing a strategically sound market research plan for end users.
  2. Ensuring highest degree of research value by recommending alternative research designs and applications to reflect latest advances in research methodologies and overseeing work of outside research suppliers.
  3. Providing input for formulating and managing an annual research budget; monitoring expenditures of brand assignments and supplier spending.
  4. Assisting with the management of research projects for all brand assignments.

To be considered, candidates must possess the following:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree(*), preferably in Marketing or business related field.
  2. A minimum of five years related market research experience. 
  3. Experience in analyzing packaged goods consumer products research data.
  4. Experience in planning, organizing, and prioritizing multiple projects independently.
  5. Competent communication/presentation skills.
  6. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Database management skills are preferable.

*Education, experiences, training, and certifications will be considered and may in some circumstances acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
